REWE Supermarket opens in the Zollhafen Mainz Quarter

Zollhafen Mainz acquires a large supermarket as a local amenity. CA Immo signed a corresponding tenancy agreement with REWE Markt GmbH (REWE) at the beginning of April. The supermarket is set to move into the residential and office building Rheinallee III in 2018. CA Immo will build the turnkey property for a special property fund managed by Aberdeen Asset Management.

The building complex in which the REWE supermarket will be opened is situated directly on the Rheinallee and adjoins the extended Nahestraße. One of the supermarket’s entrances will be on Rheinallee and the second entrance will face the planned marina. The sales area is on the ground floor and is on two levels. The net floor area leased by REWA amounts to approximately 3,760 m² (40,472 ft²). The supermarket will include a bakery and another store in addition to its own range. REWE will offer its customers 94 parking spaces in an underground car park.

Besides the supermarket, the residential and commercial building on Rheinallee in Mainz will in future accommodate 182 one to five bedroom apartments as well as a nursery catering for seven groups of children. The architecture was sourced through a competition and comes from the offices of Römer Partner Architektur in Cologne. A defining feature of the design, alongside the high quality clinker facade, is the spacious, partly split-level ground floor. The building has an underground car park with around 250 parking spaces for cars, which are partly accessible to the public. Alongside the construction of the building and the renting of the retail space, CA Immo is responsible for the nursery lease. The renting of the flats will be undertaken by Aberdeen.
