New views of Erlenmatt

From Saturday, 19 April 2008 a viewing platform and an information pavilion will be up-and-running in Erlenmatt. These will be located right next to the Erlkönig Restaurant. Through this communication method, Vivico Real Estate and the canton of Basel-Stadt will enable the general public to gain an overview of the development of the 190,000 m² Erlenmatt district.

Erlenmatt is changing piece by piece. Since last summer, the construction of the Erlentor residential complex has been underway in the south of the future city district. In the course of this year, the shells of the buildings will be finished and the first homes are to be ready for occupation from the spring of 2009. In parallel, during the coming months, part of Erlenmattstrasse as well as the southern part of Erlenmatt Park will develop in this part of the extensive area. Starting in May 2008, the land will be prepared for the construction of the Erlenmatt-Galerie, a shopping centre with a hotel, on the corner of Schwarzwaldallee and Erlenstrasse. All this can in future be observed on location from a six-metre-high viewing platform.
Erlenmatt is to develop into a vibrant district with urban homes and attractive workplaces in stages. It will all be arranged around the 50,000 m² public Erlenmatt Park. Kindergartens and schools are also part of the plan. The aim is to create a range of offers for families, single people and elderly residents living in the 700 to 800 homes that are envisaged. Commercial enterprises and service companies are to be accommodated at the edge of the district. Bus and tram lines will ensure optimal transport links.
Thanks to the information platform developed in partnership by the canton of Basel-Stadt and Vivico, it is not just the inhabitants of Basel who will be able to gain an impression of the staggered development and the growth of the new Erlenmatt district on location; the facility also guarantees interesting perspectives for experts. On the first Thursday of each month, starting on 8 May 2008 (5.30 p.m.), a public tour is also on offer. Additional tours can be carried out for interested organizations upon request. Information is available on the following phone number: +41 (0) 61 269 88 44. On Saturday, 19 April 2008, the information pavilion and viewing platform are available between 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m. for interested members of the public to visit.
