CA Immo sells further plots in Berlin

CA Immo and Hamburg Team have sold two additional, jointly developed plots in Europacity. This successfully concludes the development of the southern residential quarter at Otto-Weidt-Platz for the joint venture. The BUWOG Group is the buyer of the in-total about 9,720 m² (104,625 ft²) plot. BUWOG will erect around 200 apartments on one of the plots. The second plot located on Heidestrasse is planned for commercial use.

Over the course of the development of the residential quarter, the joint venture of CA Immo and Hamburg Team had already conducted an architectural competition for the residential plot. BUWOG will develop a corresponding planning application on the basis of the results of the competition. Sales of the around 200 planned owner-occupied and rental apartments are planned to start already in the second half of 2016. Construction is to start in the spring of 2017. The building plots directly adjoin to the north the future Otto-Weidt-Platz. The residential plot will border the Promenade and the Spandauer Schifffahrtskanal (Spandau shipping canal) in the east. 

CA Immo – as the largest real estate owner in Europacity – is developing Europacity, which covers over 40 hectares (98 acres), into a vibrant, mixed-use quarter in cooperation with the State of Berlin. Not until December 2015 did the Berlin House of Representatives agree to the land-use plan for the quarter and thus free the way for additional, urgently needed apartments, among other things, to be realised in Berlin. Together with the apartments realised by BUWOG, in the next 2-3 years over 1,000 apartments will be made available in Europacity. Several office and hotel buildings have already been created in Europacity in recent years. Many of them, such as the office buildings Tour Total, John F. Kennedy Haus and Monnet 4 as well as the InterCityHotel, were realised by CA Immo itself. CA Immo sold other plots to investors such as 50Hertz, the Steigenberger Group, Ernst Basler und Partner and the Groth Group. Further office and hotel buildings have been developed or are currently being realised on these plots. CA Immo recently started on the construction of an office building for the auditing company KPMG on Heidestrasse; additional office projects are currently in preparation.
