Matthias Winkelhardt appointed to the management of development company Zollhafen Mainz

With effect from 1 February 2019, Matthias Winkelhardt (42), head of CA Immo Frankfurt, was appointed as joint Managing Director of Zollhafen Mainz GmbH. The company is a joint venture between Mainzer Stadtwerke AG and CA Immo Deutschland GmbH. Together, the companies are developing the Zollhafen Mainz quarter, which covers around 30 hectares. Winkelhardt succeeds Frank Nickel, who had taken over joint management on an interim basis alongside Olaf Heinrich, Head of Infrastructure Development and Real Estate Management at Mainzer Stadtwerke AG, in February 2018.

As well as developing the quarter, CA Immo is also responsible for realising its own projects in Zollhafen. Most recently, CA Immo completed an extensive residential and commercial building on Rheinallee comprising around 18,500 m² of rental space and handed it over to investor Aberdeen Standard Investments Deutschland AG. The building also plays a key role in the overall development of the quarter, as it houses a large supermarket and a seven-form daycare facility for children measuring 1,100 m² on the ground floor.

CA Immo is currently developing the first part of the ZigZag office building complex. The building, which has around 4,000 m² of rental space, is being constructed in a prominent location at the north-western tip of the quarter’s inner harbour. Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2020.

This year, CA Immo is also planning to start on the construction of around 50 apartments and approximately 3,000 m² of office space on the “Hafeninsel V” site in Zollhafen Mainz. 2020 will see the beginning of construction work for another 90 or so apartments on the “Hafeninsel IV” site. CA Immo is developing and realising these two projects in a joint venture with UBM Development Deutschland GmbH.
