CA Immo Insights: Our international Remote Leadership Journey

Remote Leadership Journey Video

At the nine CA Immo offices in Austria, Germany and the CEE region, home office and remote work was already part of everyday working life for many employees before the pandemic broke out.  With COVID-19, however, this form of work has for the first time entered our living rooms as a 100% "New Normal" for all of us. We experienced what is possible (even the annual financial report of a stock exchange listed company was suddenly prepared in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms) - but at the same time we also recognised where the problems and difficulties of remote working are.

Many question marks were raised around the topic of leadership in particular, even if at first glance the classic home office (technically) worked very well.

Triggered by these current changes and circumstances, CA Immo's HR department reacted quickly and decided to hold a virtual leadership journey as part of the CA Immo Academy, accompanied by an external consultant and in collaboration with all international managers of the CA Immo Group. This journey took us to 6 different spots, where we experienced virtual workshop "nuggets".

Our aim was to provide managers with the methods and tools they need to deal with this new situation and continue to manage their teams in the best possible way, as soon as the COVID 19 pandemic broke out. In addition, we wanted to use the dynamic to drive forward the digital transformation and to support communication both within and across divisions.

Focus of the individual nuggets at the "Leadership Journey

  • NUGGET 1-2: Inputs and tools for "Remote Leadership" & for "virtual leadership"
  • NUGGET 3-4: Compact overview of the topic "Agility" and "Agile methods
  • NUGGET 5-6: Practice nuggets to experience an Agile method and identify starting points for one' s own area
  • NUGGET Follow-up: Sustainable reflection of initial implementation successes

For this project we were nominated for the HR Award in the category "Strategy, Leadership and Human Resources Development" at the HR Summit 2020 and are among the top 5 finalists.

And although we are all happy to be able to work again (at least partially) in our modern offices, we are also proud to have mastered this experience well together. Because we now know how to do it.
